>> ABOUT OUR THEME
๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ-๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ค?
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction made famous by movies in the early 80's and 90's such as Blade Runner, TRON, The 5th element, The Matrix and books like "Nueromancer" & "Do Android dream of electric sheep".
Most are based in a dystopian futuristic setting that tends to focus on a "combination of low-life and high tech" featuring advanced technological and scientific achievements, such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics, juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order. The world starts to loose its humanity, merging with machines and becoming totally reliant on technology. Government is replaced by major corporations, and social privacy is all but extinct. Sound familiar?
Those that rebel against the dystopian empires are often labeled as Cyber Punks. Often an underground group of mistfits and hackers seeking to bring down a systematic oppressive regime.
Much of cyberpunk is rooted in the New Wave science fiction movement of the 1960s and 1970s, when writers examined the impact of drug culture, technology, and the sexual revolution while avoiding the utopian tendencies of earlier science fiction.
Another major influence would be the hacker culture of the 90's and early 2000's.
Why choose this theme?
Cuase reality is sometimes scarier than ghosts and goblins.
The future is here...it's in your hands right now.
