RYAN CROSSON

  • THE MUSIC ROOM 327 Edgewood Ave Atlanta,Ga 30312 USA (map)

Producer, DJ, A&R, and label boss to one of dance music’s most boundary pushing

labels, Ryan Crosson is a true child of the Motor City. A rich musical output stepped

in the post-apolcalyptic landscapes and dark warehouses of his native Metro Detroit,

Ryan has feasted on a steady diet of M_nus style minimal techno and the sounds of

Plastikman to Matthew Dear, from Magda to Villalobos, influences which marked the

creation of one of the most enduring and forward-thinking producers in

underground house and techno.

Since Ryan’s first release in 2005 on Cologne’s Trapez imprint, he’s gone on to put

out material out on some of the most diverse and groundbreaking labels including

M_nus, Telegraph and Wagon Repair, and has established himself as a remixer of

the finest order. His recent Pezzner remix released on Marc Romboy’s Systematic is

evidence of Ryan’s vast abilities to rework. In the studio, Ryan’s production and

sampling practices depart from the world of electronic music by referencing musique

concrete, 1970's funk, and East African jazz. His dedication to the constant renewal

of his distinct sound has established him as one of a new-swathe of risk-taking

producers in house and techno. Other recent triumphs include genre-busting sonic

experiments that make up his recent DRM album collaboration with Cesar Merveille

released at the start of the year on Visionquest.

As joint label head-honcho alongside Lee Curtis and Shaun Reeves, Ryan is

responsible for the day to day running of what has rapidly become one of dance

music’s most cherished imprints. Between them, Ryan and his partners in Visionquest

have honed a whole new landscape of lush, organic techno and more esoteric

leftfield electronica. Today in 2017, Ryan’s been behind the construction of

Visionquest’s newest venture- their digital arm and sub-label Brachtune. With first

release under Brachtunes release coming from Leftroom hed honcho Matt Tolfrey,

this marks a new and exciting chapter in the Visionquest story.

Ryan’s relentless tour schedule sees him continue to play some of the world’s best

parties, both for his own DJ sets and as part of the Visionquest trio. His longstanding

love affair with Ibiza following Visionquest’s DC10 takeovers in 2012 has

been rediscovered this year with his new residency at Amnesia’s Music: On, and with

other forthcoming dates including Space for ‘We Love’. Other notable dates will see

Visionquest showcases drop at London’s Fabric and Glasgow’s The Arches.
